FUCK Nestlé
Nestlé's business practices destroy lives, destabilize communities, and threaten our shared environment. This website seeks to empower consumers with free educational tools to learn about and avoid funding corporations that place profits above life.

Intended to be used while shopping, this tool allows you to find if a given brand is owned by Nestlé so that it can be easily avoided. If you notice a brand missing, you can let us know here.

Nestlé as a shareholder
L'Oréal
Nestlé owns 23.29% of L'Oréal, the world's largest cosmetics and beauty company, whose brands include Garnier, Maybelline, Lancôme and Urban Decay.
Alcon
Nestlé owned 100% of Alcon in 1978. In 2002 Nestlé sold 23.2% of its Alcon shares on the New York Stock Exchange. In 2008 Nestlé sold 24.8% of existing Alcon shares to the Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis. In 2010 Nestlé sold the remaining 52% of its Alcon shares to Novartis. Novartis paid a total of 39.1 billion USD.
ABOUT THIS SITE
Nestlé's business practices violate many of the values that most of us hold. But they, like other giant corporations, purchase so many brands that it is unreasonable to expect even the most informed of consumers to keep them straight. The result is a predatory ability to trick people into financially supporting practices they find abhorrent.

The goal of this project is to "lower the veil" and provide consumers with the transparency they deserve when trying to make an informed choice in line with their beliefs. To that end, this website is a free, accessible resource for consumers so that they can know who they are buying from and what they are funding. This problem is so much larger than Nestlé alone, but they stand as a prominent contributor to the problem of companies placing profit over lives.

In the interest of transparency, this project is open source and the full codebase can be viewed (and contributed to) here. I must also acknowledge the inspiration I got from amazing projects that came before this, such as Peoplecott by Charles Stover.

Stay safe out there, and let's do our best to buy in line with our ethics wherever possible!
